A Utah family has been reunited with their cat, Galena, after she was accidentally shipped 650 miles to California in an Amazon box. The 6-year-old feline spent six days in transit before being discovered by warehouse workers and reunited with her family.
According to Galena’s owners, they had packed a box with shoes to return to Amazon and took it to a drop-off location. Unbeknownst to them, Galena had climbed inside the box. It wasn’t until the box arrived at an Amazon warehouse in Riverside, California, that Galena’s ordeal ended. Workers were shocked to find a living cat inside the box. Galena’s journey began in Lehi, Utah, where her owners live.
Despite the long journey without food or water, Galena was found in good health. Her owners were relieved to be reunited with their pet, crediting her survival to her calm nature.
The incident highlights the potential dangers of packing boxes for shipping without thoroughly checking for pets. While it is common for cats to hide in boxes, the consequences can be severe if they are inadvertently shipped. Galena’s story has gone viral online, with many expressing shock that she survived the long journey. The incident is a testament to the resilience of cats and the importance of checking boxes before shipping them.
The reunion between Galena and her owners is a relief after what could have been a devastating loss. The incident serves as a cautionary tale for anyone shipping packages to always check for pets first. For Galena, she is back home safe and sound, ending her unexpected adventure.
