Democrats across America are seizing the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, with state and federal candidates having hopes to bend the anger about this decision into support at the voting box. Still, Republicans divert attention towards rising prices and crime, nervous about losing their political standpoint.
Led by President Biden, who declared on Friday that “Roe is on the ballot” and “personal freedoms are on the ballot,” Democrats on the front lines are planning to take advantage of their slim congressional majorities and are planning to cast their votes in order to fight back on abortion rights and to prevent the rollback of other liberties.
Many Republicans have embraced and are in approval of the new law. Still, others focus on more practical standpoints, such as a couple’s economic struggles. For example, a child could be the parents’ most regretful burden that lasts throughout their entire lives.
Throughout this crisis, Democrats and Republicans have reflected on the midterms . The Democrats are overcoming Biden’s low approval ratings while also searching for ways to turn other issues to the Republican’s battleground. Giving voters second thoughts about turning power towards Republican candidates. On the other hand, Republican leaders are wary of focusing on topics that might diminish their congressional advantage.
While we are still unsure of the results that will follow Friday’s events, the Supreme Court has made one of the biggest decisions of the century, one that overturned a 50-year precedent.
Many states across the US have trigger laws that automatically ban abortion and more could ban the procedure soon due to the Supreme Court ruling. Many journalists have been enraged by this law, stating that “This is insanity.” To add on, America was developed as a country of the free, and many people see that idea of a “Free” country being taken away from them as abortion laws are set into place. Democrats built their party around the middle class, and now that they see it being torn apart. They hope to rebuild it.
