Elon Musk Might Participate in a Cage Match. His Opponent? Mark Zuckerberg

By: Annie Xu

On June 21st, Elon Musk responded to a twitter user’s tweet about Mark Zuckerberg working out with, “I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.” To this, Zuckerberg responded with, “Send Me Location.”

Musk and Zuckerberg’s history of trying to outdo one another goes way back. It seems their feuds started when Musk’s SpaceX rocket, containing one of Zuckerberg’s satellite’s blew up. Musk’s rocket, which costed 62 million, held Zuckerberg’s 200 million satellite.

This is one of several instances that has fueled their feud. However, the difference between this cage match and their other spats is it’s physical—every other drama has been over tweets or through subtle targeted action. This fight would be an exciting one for sure.

Fans are already thrilled, however, they are growing impatient. The fight has not been organized yet—the location has not been selected yet. They are between fighting in L.A or fighting in the Roman colosseum.

Besides the organizational issues, there are other challenges that arise once the in detail planning begins to begin. For starters, Musk is at least 70 pounds heavier than Zuckerberg. This is a problem because, in professional boxing, boxers are arranged by weight class. Not only that, Musk and Zuckerberg also have a massive age gap—Musk is 52 while Zuckerberg is 39.

While Musk and Zuckerberg were unevenly matched up in stats, the fight becomes even less balanced as Zuckerberg has been training in Jujitsu for 18 months. On the contrary, Musk said he “almost never” works out. Musk also stated that he was “not going to lose any weight.”

While many fans are excited, there is certainly one person that isn’t excited— Musk’s mother. Maye Musk responded to Lex Fridman’s tweet showing his support for the cage fight with, “Don’t encourage this match!” This was accompanied by two disapproving emojis.
