Are you a soccer fan? I am, and this news is about the Euro cup final! On July 14th, 2024, in the 2024 Euro football cup final, England lost to Spain with the score of 1-2, in Berlin Olympiastadion, Germany.

England’s soccer team’s nickname is “The Three Lions”, and it is actually a pretty good football team. It is one of 8 teams that has won a World Cup match! Spain’s football team’s nickname is “The Red Fury”, and in Spanish is “La Furia Roja”, which is a very good football team too. A football match between the two nations has been very rare in recent years with the Euro 2024 final being the first encounter in over six years.

Euro 2024 came to a close on July 14, 2024 at Berlin Olympiastadion, Germany as England faced Spain in the final. After an uneventful first half ending with a tie of 0 to 0, England still had hope. But moments after the second half kicked in, Spain’s Nico Williams scored a goal. England fought back, thanks to Cole Palmer (Chelsea FC player) who scored a spectacular shot from outside of the box flew into the bottom corner of the goal. England hopes for winning the trophy was back, but a goal from Spain’s Mikel Oyarzabal in the 86th minute secured Spain’s win.

I think it is kind of sad that such a great football team went into second place in the Euro 2024 finals. I hope that England will do better in the next Euros tournament. Go, England!
