Ex-president Trump Investigated for Trumping-up Lies

By: Andrew Lu

This past week, new questions regarding the potential criminality of former president Donald Trump seeking to overturn the election were hurled at Trump allies. But recently, Trump-allies have taken an interesting new approach to these challenges: the dawn of a legal defense.

Despite the efforts of the Trump allies, President Trump hasn’t taken the cue and supplied another long-winded statement. The 12-page explanation was all trumped-up lies about why the 2020 election had been “stolen” from him and why he was most rightful in the position.

For those who haven’t been following politics, it may be confusing why the United States Justice Department is investigating this case. On January 6th, 2021, President Trump “potentially” motivated a riot in the Capitol. The riot was called the “Save America March” and was dedicated to saving “America’s democracy,”. Mr. Trump led this mob of protestors before they stormed the Capitol in an attempt to overturn the approval of President Biden’s victory. This entire case revolved around the attack on the Capitol, with minor factors contributing

In his defense of the riot, Mr. Trump wrote that the rioters were trying to “hold their elected officials accountable for the obvious signs of criminal activity throughout the election.” This statement is also the usual fantasy of Mr. Trump.

For the Justice Department to bring justice to this case, they would have to provide evidence that President Trump knew that storming the Capitol was illegal. The prosecutors also face the challenge of providing enough evidence of President Trump behind the rioting to overturn the election.

Fortunately for the Justice Department, Mr. Trump still relies on his lifetime tactic: “Mr. Trump has a long history of saying whatever suits his purposes without regard for the truth.” – New York Times | Despite Growing Evidence, a Prosecution of Trump Would Face Challenges.

The Department currently is also investigating the pressuring of officials in Georgia to transfer votes of what is under Biden’s column to his own. Investigators are also investing in taking classified documents with him as he left the white house in 2021. Classified documents are under the ownership of the country, not under the Ex-President. Hence, the Justice Department is investigating this case.

Can you believe that Mr. Trump said, “Do you believe that I lost to him?”
