For the first time in the Women’s World Cup, 32 teams will be battling to be the world champions and win the World Cup trophy hosted by Australia and New Zealand. This tournament became the biggest women’s sporting event with more than a million tickets already sold.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament takes place from July 20th to August 20th. The first match has New Zealand battling Norway in Auckland’s Eden Park. The final match will be at Stadium Australia, known as the Olympic Stadium on August 20th.
Surprisingly, it is the first time the Women’s World Cup will take place in the southern hemisphere and with more than one country hosting it.
There are 64 matches playing in 10 stadiums in 9 cities throughout the month. Six stadiums across five cities will take place in Australia and the rest at New Zealand.
This year’s World Cup might be a tough match. The U.S players are defending their title as champions, having won both tournaments in 2015 and 2019, the previous two games. While the Lionesses became European Champions in 2022. However, it wouldn’t be easy when there are many other teams hoping to win football’s biggest prize.
