Five People Going on Titanic Expedition Believed to be Dead

By: Jace Hill

A submersible made by Ocean Gate with five passengers in it going on an expedition for the Titanic was found in debris on the floor of the ocean. The passengers are believed to be dead. The vehicle they were in was a submersible, which was made by the countries around the Titanic, who all chipped in with machines and parts. This submersible was remote-controlled, and after being ”submerged” in water for ninety minutes it lost control with its support vessel. People started working overtime to save those stuck in the submersible, as it had a limited oxygen amount. Canadians and Americans both helped to save those stuck in the submersible. They contributed aircrafts, underwater equipment, and boats. According to CBC Kids News, ”As of Wednesday, searchers had covered an area about half the size of Nova Scotia.” Until Tuesday and Wednesday, a Canadian aircraft had heard banging deep in the ocean below. Until U.S. coast guard Rear Admiral John Mauger eventually said that an ROV (remotely operated vehicle) found a piece of shrapnel from the Titan.

U.S. coast guard Rear Admiral John Mauger says, “The debris is consistent with a catastrophic implosion of the vessel,” meaning that it burst inwards. “I offer my deepest condolences to the families,” he said. “I hope that this discovery provides some solace during this difficult time.” A news conference was held where reporters asked what went wrong with the excavation exactly. Mauger says that they are still working on it.

This expedition has been the main focus for the public for many days now. The discovery of what was in the Titanic could be the main focus of the press for a long time. People and reporters alike all wonder, what was in the Titanic? How big was it? These questions may be answered later this year.
