Gamers Start Hallucinating

By: Ashley Ding

Gaming is a popular pastime and hobby for many teenagers. But there are consequences to playing video games in front of a computer for hours. Hallucinations. This means seeing health bars above people’s heads and hearing a commentary on everything that happens in life.

Scientists believe since the pandemic, since kids spend more timeat home with nothing much to do, they game. This led to researchers believing 10 percent of kids have GD (Gaming Disorder).

Psychiatrist Kavita Seth said, “They prioritize gaming over sleep, over having meals, going to school, completing school homework, completing social activities,” They would get mad if anyone told them to stop playing.

This was the point of view the gamers themself had. “When I really was a hardcore player in WoW (World of Warcraft), when I got my adrenaline pumping, I started seeing health bars above people’s heads,” a 17-year-old gamer said. Another gamer, Daniel Owens, said, “It felt as if my body went to sleep, but my mind was still working. It happens in games with frequent sidekick interaction or a narrator.”

To sum it up, gamers who spend much time gaming start to hallucinate and see things.
