Garry Kasparov was born in 1963. He is the thirteenth World Champion and exemplifies the chess style of a true Champion. A tireless worker, he brought opening preparation to a new level by analyzing openings far into the middlegame. Kasparov had unique understanding of dynamics and often showed that seemingly-surprising positional sacrifices were correct. From 1986 until his retirement in 2005 he was almost constantly the highest-rated player in the world. He held the world championship title from 1985 until 2000. In 1999 he played the Chess World Team and won.
Garry Kasparov’s Style
Kasparov is a very dynamic player who plays with short term advantages and exploit them really well. He creates complicated positions and tactical and attacking positions with very good prospects. He beats his opponent with these tactics and because of their passive positions.
Garry Kasparov’s Preparation
Kasparov is known to be one of the best prepared players in the opening stage of the game. His preparation is really amazing and to this day he might have novelties in his computer never before seen in top level chess. His approach to the game was to grab the initiative at the earliest opportunity and press it on with maximum energy until his opponent’s position crumbled.
Kramnik Takes Over
Kasparov was unable to win a single game against Kramnik’s iron play in their London 2000 match, while Kramnik exploited small mistakes to win two games.
