Germany beats Scotland by a large margin

By: Aiden Ding

Scotland has a pretty remarkable soccer team that qualified for the World Cup on eight occasions, so no one expected its huge defeat by the Germans in the first match of the Euro cup on the night of June 14th at Munich in Germany.

The match took place in the Allianz Arena in Munich, the capital of Germany. Coincidentally, this is the same spot where Olympian Swimmer Mark Spitz won 7 gold medals. Scotland fans were hopeful before the match, but once the match finished, all hope was lost and the Scotland fans cursed at the Germans.

After Florian Witz of Germany scored in the first ten minutes, the next goal came another ten minutes later with Jamal Musialla powering through the enemy’s defense and scoring. A penalty from Kai Havertz soared into the goal, making the lead 3-0. Niclas Fullkrug’s powerful leg gave Germany yet another point, making the score a shocking 4-0! Later on, a free kick from Scotland bounced off the head of one of Germany’s players into their own goal, sealing a 4-1 as the score. Many Scotland fans were hopeful, but in the end in the 92nd minute, Germany’s Emre Can scored-leaving the score as 5-1, sealing the impressive when by Germany.

This was one of the largest defeats ever in Scotland’s history, and one that will not be easily forgotten. This match’s results are probably because of Scotland’s decision, or that the Germans have changed their style of playing and go more on the offensive.

This match was the biggest win for the Germans at the Euro cup. The Germans overall players are a great build of powerful players, but also more defensive. All in all, the Germans are doing well in the Euro Cup-and who knows? Maybe they’ll be the champion.
