The Glastonbury Festival is one of the biggest in the world and this year, it is being held in Worthy Farm in southwestern England from June 26 to June 30. It’s a festival where famous singers and other celebrities will perform and there will be a huge crowd every day. Around 200 thousand people from all around the world will be going to the festival. The Glastonbury Festival doesn’t allow people to bring Gazebos because it takes up too much space. In the festival, you will also see their pride flags and the flags that some people brought on their own.
History of the Festival
The first Glastonbury Festival was held in the summer of 1970 and it cost 1 pound per ticket and the camps and drinks were all free. This went on for a while until 1979 when the team decided to create a 3-day festival that charges 5 pounds per ticket. In the 1980s, cultural and political changes occurred, and the festival got even more attention. In 1990, for the 20th anniversary, the team decided to add a stage where singers and artists can perform.
What is happening at the Festival This Year?
In this year’s festival there will be a section where kids can have music lessons, learn crafts and a lot of more fun stuff to do. At the end of this year’s festival, there will be a lot of different artists performing everyday. There will also be artists that have been creating music for many years: this year, it’s Shania Twain. There will also be tattoos which festival-goers can get to support charities, such as water aid, which helps people access clean drinking water.
