The mayor of Gold Coast, which is in Queensland, Australia, and some sporting groups have been trying hard to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games after Victoria’s premier Dan Andrews said the state would no longer host the event because it would be too expensive. The Commonwealth Games are used to unite the commonwealth family, which is a “family” of countries.
And, fortunately for the Gold Coast, Australia’s richest billionaire has now started supporting the Gold Coast hosting the Commonwealth Games. The billionaire, named Gina Rinehart, is a very successful businesswoman and the head of the mining company Hancock Prospecting. A very well-known supporter of Australian sports, Rinehart isn’t planning to pay for the games, but she is planning to do whatever she can to help the Gold Coast secure hosting the event.
