Most cats love to scratch random things like furniture and your clothes, which annoys many cat owners.
For example, you just bought a new comfy couch. A minute later, you see your cat digging through the box to scratch the couch.
But you can’t blame them. It is just a normal cat’s behavior. When your cat is not scratching anything, then you should be worried, and bring the creature to the vet to be checked on.
But if your cat is causing you problems by scratching too much, a new study may have the answer for you.
Scientists have asked cat owners their opinion about their cat and if their cat is bothering them in any way. Most people say that their cat is bothering them by always scratching their things.
Researchers say cats scratching things is usually caused by stress. Cats get stressed very easily, and if they get overly stressed, they will do something called a stress-scratch. Which means they will scratch stuff to relieve themselves from the stress.
And if you give your cat a hiding spot or some privacy, they might stop scratching. The second way is by playing with your cat for short periods of time. It could also reduce their stress by a lot.
