By: Sophie Wang

Severe heat waves have been crossing the South of North America, and a tornado recently hit West Texas and Florida. Texas Governor Greg Abbott visited Perryton, Texas recently, where there were 1,000 citizens left without electricity and three people have died by a tornado late on Thursday evening. There were 160 people injured, but the local hospital only had 25 beds.

Southern and western areas are currently very hot 94℉-112℉ (33℃-44℃). Victims have lost everything, such as homes, rentals, and jobs. It was right above the town and damaged everything in its path. Two women and an 11-year-old boy died when the tornado crossed into Perryton. On Saturday, authorities upgraded the intensity of the twister to EF-3, saying it packed winds of up to 140 mph (225 kph).
