Homeowners All Over America Are Paranoid of Crime, Even With Thousands Invested Into Home Security.

All over America, people have started to become more and more paranoid about crime, fearing burglars, gangs, and child predators. Because of this, many businesses that sell home security products and self-defense weapons like cameras and firearms have boomed. With people spending upwards of $10,000 on home security. Although prices of home security products have been lowering, and homeowners are able to stock up on security items, they are still afraid for their homes. This is because of how many of these products are flawed.

For instance, some security cameras are useless at night, because of the lack of lights and night vision. Motion detectors can be too sensitive, picking up every little movement like wind blowing trees or rodents running about. Or even the opposite, not sensitive enough so that an experienced person could easily bypass the security. “The cameras are terrible,” said a 66-year-old real estate agent who had moved into the 5,400- square-foot dream house and inherited its old surveillance system. “I’m still paranoid, and I live in this overdone gated community,” Dan O’Dell, a homeowner, replied as a golfer took a swing beyond his backyard’s steel fence. This homeowner, with even thousands of dollars invested into his home security, is still afraid.
