A young man named Jonathan Maplestone was wandering around his neighborhood in Detroit at the end of his street. Suddenly, a wizard with a magical wand appeared right in front of him. Maplestone was shocked and confused, as he never knew magic was real. Growing up, he read Harry Potter, but always thought of it as fiction, not reality. Now, with a trained wizard floating right before him, Maplestone was speechless.

“Follow me, and I will grant you the power to read minds. I’m reading your mind right now, and I know you think that you are dreaming. But this is no dream. This is the real world,” exclaimed the wizard.
Maplestone didn’t think twice, and gladly said, “Yes, please, give me the power to read minds! I have always wanted the ability since I was a child.”

The wizard took his staff and placed the magical tip of it onto Maplestone’s forehead. Suddenly, a beam of light surged through the staff and into Maplestone’s body. Then, in a blink of the eye, the wizard vanished. Suddenly, Maplestone could read minds.

Maplestone was always fond of magic. When he was a kid, he tried doing card tricks to impress his friends. Now, he was finally given a chance to actually have magical superpowers. With the new ability, Maplestone felt on top of the world.

However, the power did have some limits. He could only read the minds of people within a five-meter radius. But his mind-reading let him know what every person’s thoughts were within that radius. He could learn everything about them, even their deepest secrets.

Luckily, Maplestone was a good man, so he had no sinister intentions with this power. But if this power fell into the wrong hands, that person could cause immense destruction and ruin the whole world.
