How the 76ers Playoff Game Went Spiraling Upward Due to a Song

By: Renee Jin

Last night, the 76ers had the chance to win against the Celtics in the second round playoff series. The score was 115-103, but the real question is, “how did they manage to pull it off?”

Everyone relied on the star players Joel Embiid, forward, and James Harden, point guard. The 76ers started out strong, but later the Celtics led by 5. Luckily, the 76ers caught up and tied the game. Less than a minute left in overtime, Harden made a 3-pointer, winning the game.

So how did James Harden manage to pull this off and lead his team to victory?

There are many possible reasons. In a text, the coach, Doc Rivers, sent Harden a gospel song,“You Know my Name,” before the game. It’s a seven minute song but he let the whole thing play. After it was done, he said, “I want to experience what he’s going through, so there must be some kind of positive energy there.”

Another factor that helped his motivation was his promise to one of his biggest fans that was a victim in a shooting. He promised he would take him to a game when he fully recovered.

It’s safe to say with this motivation, Harden really came in clutch and had the best mindset which led him to score the game winning three pointer and win the game for the 76ers against the Celtics.
