How to Make Your Yard/Garden Look Nice

Have you ever wondered how to make your yard look nice? Well, you’re lucky! In this guide, you’ll learn 5 tips on how to make your yard look nice!

One way to beautify your yard is by creating shapes with topiary. Topiary is an ancient practice of sheering evergreens to match the household architecture. Evergreens don’t HAVE to be sheered to look uniform; they can be sheered to resemble chess pieces, animals, and way more!

Another way to upgrade your yard is by hanging baskets! According to Homes and Gardens, which is a website that provides advice on decorating your house, including articles from professional designers, “When planting containers and hanging baskets, many gardeners follow the rule of ‘thriller, filler, spiller.’ Melanie Griffiths, an editor of Period Living which is a website that offers ideas for decorating your home, says, ‘Start by choosing a statement ‘thriller’ plant, to act as a focal point. Good thriller plants for hanging are pelargoniums, begonias, osteospermums, angelonia, nicotiana and heliotrope.”

A third way to add value to your yard is by creating a sensory space. According to Homes and Gardens, “Filled with enticing sounds, scents, and textures, sensory gardens are intimate outdoor spaces designed to delight our ears, noses and fingertips as well as our eyes. Sometimes stimulating, sometimes calming, these spaces offer tangible, visceral experiences that can evoke emotions and aid relaxation – and they are not just for backyards either.” Sensory gardens don’t have to be fancy; they can simply be a path with scented plants and herbs.

Color is also another option. Homes and Gardens say, “When it comes to color, it is generally believed that hot colors such as red and orange are stimulating, while greens and blues are calming, so aim to create different areas with this in mind.” Be creative with the colors of the plants you choose!

Lastly, you could lay a gravel path. Gravel garden ideas can create a structure to your yard. In addition, gravel structures add a layer of security to your home. ‘Security is always a top priority for any homeowner,’ advises John Evans, managing director at Stormclad which is a company that does home improvements. ‘Unsurprisingly, gravel is not only pretty and low maintenance, but the often loud crunching noise it makes underfoot can be a good burglar deterrent. We recommend that you invest in a stone size that won’t easily stick in the soles of shows and get ‘walked’ into the house.” Gravel also prevents floods if you live in a place that floods easily since it allows rainwater to soak through it.

In conclusion, I talked about 5 ways you can make your garden look nice. Topiary, hanging baskets, sensory gardens, color in your plant that you choose, and the benefits you have for laying a gravel path. You should seriously consider adding them to your garden! Do you have other ideas that can make a garden look better? Do you think we should have gardens with a variety of plants?
