This past Saturday, thousands of British people flooded the streets of London to protest rising living costs. They demanded that the government do something that can help its citizens face quickly rising costs.
Many protesters held signs that read “cut war not welfare. Videos posted online show crowds booing as they passed 10 Downing Street.
The living prices are rising because of two main reasons. First, due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, many food supplies, like wheat, are running low. Furthermore, the Covid-19 pandemic is still affecting many businesses, and prices are rising across the board for both owners and consumers.
Because of these, workers effectively lost a total of 20,000 pounds (24,450 dollars) since 2008. Now, Boris Johnson’s government is under huge pressure.
England’s prime minister, Boris Johnson, has been criticized for being slow to respond to the rising costs of living.
