Gaijin is not very receptive, players have been asking for changes for years now, and only recently has Gaijin started listening to their player base after a series of protests that included review bombing and boycotts. Now, they’ve even asked the community for improvements they could make, although many think that this is great, experienced veterans predict that only the ones that Gaijin likes will be implemented into the game.
A suggestion many have said is to fix the matchmaking system. As of now, it is horrendous. The matchmaking system uses a tool called Battle Rating, (BR) which says how good overall the vehicle is (for example a modern US Abrams Main Battle Tank would be about 11.0 BR, and a Soviet BT-5 from 1935 would be at about 1.0 BR.)
Right now, War Thunder’s matchmaking system is decent, mostly putting vehicles of 1.3 with 1.7, 5.3 with 5.7, and so on. But sometimes, when there aren’t enough players in that BR range, it is just pairs tanks of 3.7, with 4.7 tanks, which as you can imagine, is really painful for the 3.7 players. For the most part, it is just some BR ranges that this happens to, meaning the players usually die straight away because their tanks just cannot match up to the enemy, and it is very difficult for them to progress.
Many have seen and posted about how they first-hand experienced how terrible this is. To fix this, Gaijin could make matchmaking more balanced so that vehicles can only fight other vehicles that are only .5 or .3 apart from each other, ultimately, this would result in longer matchmaking waits, but isn’t waiting a bit longer worth it if you can actually play the game?
