Incredible and Unusual Holiday Homes

By: Kevin  Wang

For $89 a person, anyone can live in a life-sized dollhouse for a night. To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Polly Pocket, a line of toy dolls and accessories from the 90s, Airbnb is giving people a chance to live in the special house. The brightly colored house is more than 39 feet tall and is designed to look like a makeup compact.

[paragraph break] The Airbnb listing reads, “Hi, friends! Sleepover at my place! You in? I’ll be off on a 35th birthday adventure, but my life-sized Slumber Party Fun compact is all yours for the night. I left everything just the way you remember it—from all the way back in ’94!” The listing reads as if Polly from Polly Pocket put her own house on Airbnb.

Polly Pocket’s place is not the only unusual Airbnb – “Shrek’s Swamp” is another. This house is built to look almost exactly like Shrek’s house from the movie “Shrek.” It’s located deep in the hills of the Scottish Highlands, and guests can “relax in the soft glow of ‘earwax candlelight.”

Next is a record-breaking hotel called the “Whitney Peak Hotel” located in Reno, Nevada in the USA. According to BBC Newsground, “Whitney Peak Hotel is home to the Guinness Book of World Records’ tallest artificial climbing wall.” This tall climbing wall is built on the side of the hotel, but the hotel also has an indoor bouldering park. The Whitney Peak Hotel’s website tells potential guests that their hotel hosts bold designs and stylish choices, but their rooms won’t be stuffy.

Then, there is the “Jumbo Stay” hotel located near the Stockholm Arlanda Airport in Sweden. Visitors are able to live in a real jumbo jet, the Boeing 747-212B to be exact. This hotel offers a spectacular view of the landing strip at the Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

There are many fun alternatives to traditional hotels. Would you stay in any of these wacky homes?
