Is Bobby Miller a Great Pitcher?

By: Matthew Yang

Bobby Miller is a great LA Dodgers pitcher – and here’s why.

The Dodgers selected Miller as the 29th overall pick in the 2020 draft. He has won three games and only lost one since he started to play in the MLB. Miller’s average fastball velocity is 98.8 mph.

Miller was born in Elk Grove Village, Illinois in 1999. He went to the University of Louisville in 2018. Miller won at least six games and only lost one game in each of his first two years in college. He earned freshman All-American honors and spots on the American Athletic Conference Third Team and All-Freshman Team. He also won every game he played as a junior.

Miller’s debut with the Dodgers came on May 23, in Atlanta. He helped the injury-plagued Dodgers win 8-1 against the Braves. He struck out five batters and only allowed one run in four innings.

In a game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Miller threw six scoreless innings, becoming only the third pitcher to go at least five innings without allowing more than one run in each of his first four career games in the same season.

Some people may claim that Bobby Miller is inconsistent because he struggled in his fifth start in which the Dodgers lost to the Giants, 0-15. However, this is only one game and doesn’t represent his abilities or career statistics. One loss cannot define a player’s whole career.

Bobby Miller is an excellent pitcher with great stats. His future is bright.
