Its ice cream month!

By: William Dong

A hot summer does deserve this holiday! If national ice cream day isn’t enough, say hello to national ice cream month!

The nation has been so crazy about this cold treat that we are the world’s largest consumers! The average US person eats up to nine pounds a year. People in America spend around $6 billion for the cold cone.

Although there are over 1000 recorded ice cream flavors worldwide, vanilla is both the worldwide and US favorite. However, if you are feeling adventurous, there are many more flavors to try! They include chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, cookies and cream, and much, much more! Others strange flavors can include avocado ice cream, lobster ice cream, garlic ice cream, macaroni and cheese ice cream, pickle ice cream, oyster ice cream, cheese ice cream, pizza ice cream, squid ink ice cream. Just to name a few.

You should know Ronald Regan’s love of jelly beans, but he also has a favor to ice cream. On 1984, he declared July as national ice cream month. And the third Sunday of July is also national ice cream day. People celebrate it with appropriate ceremonies and activities. This means to consume as much ice cream as you can.
