J.T. Realmuto’s Home Run Seals Game One of the 2022 World Series

J.T. Realmuto, the catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, hit a home run in game one of the World Series that lead them to win a baseball game. The Phillies were down 5 – 0 and this home run in the 10th inning made them win the first game of the seven-game series.

Realmuto helped the Phillies win their first World Series game from being down 5-0 since 20 years ago. “All in all, it was a great game, a great come from behind victory, and it just showed the resilience of the club again and how tough they are and they never quit,” Phillies manager Rob Thomson said.

This game was tied at 5-5 but at the tenth inning, Realmuto hit a home run. This record was previously set by Carlton Fisk in the 12th inning in Game 6 of the 1975 Series against Cincinnati. Realmuto connected the situation to his wiffle ball games in his backyard when he was growing up. The situation was when he was down 3-2 and the bases loaded with two outs. Realmuto said he “probably had 7,000 at-bats in this situation growing up.

Taking into account that a catcher in a World Series hits a walk off home run to seal a game in is incredible. Not only is Realmuto good with a glove, he is also good with a bat.
