Jan. 23 2023: Tiny Plastic, Big Problem (3-5)

At our lab, we reviewed a unique strategy for finding the meanings of unfamiliar words. Reread the story. Then, consider the following:

  1. Research more about the pollution problem in other settings and environments using this article from National Geographic. Write an article discussing the main issues this particular area is facing.
  2. Write a persuasive essay where you advocate for a greener change in your school. It could be using sustainable materials during lunch, a stronger recycling program, or even using recycled paper. Be sure to provide strong reasons as to why the administration should listen to you.
  3. Write an article from an animal’s perspective who is living in the ocean. Describe this animal’s struggle in their environment as plastic begins to infiltrate. Be sure to use sensory details to engage your reader.
