During the floor final of the 2024 Paris Olympics, nine talented gymnasts competed after having advanced out of the qualifying. The order of the gymnasts preforming is chosen at random.

Ana Bărbosu from Romania competed fifth and received a score of 13.700. Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, another Romanian gymnast, went eighth and received the same score. However, Bărbosu stayed in third place instead of Maneca-Voinea because she had a lower execution score. Maneca-Voinea’s score was affected; Jordan Chiles performed last and received a score of 13.666, placing her in fifth. The large screen in Bercy Arena showed a one-tenth deduction for going out of bounds, a claim that she refutes.

But Chiles’ coach, Cecile Landi, thought the judges didn’t give Chiles full credit for a leap she made, which resulted in her difficulty score showing as a 5.8 instead of 5.9. Landi asked the judges about the difficulty of Chiles’ routine. After reviewing it, the judges agreed that Chiles deserved the extra tenth of a point for completing the leap. They raised her score from 13.666 to 13.766, which boosted her in front of Bărbosu and into third place.

The medal ceremony continued with Chiles in third, Simone Biles in second, and Rebeca Andrade in first, all stepping onto the podium together.
