You know how in video games there’s a random chance to land a critical hit? Well, in Jujutsu Kaisen, that’s basically what black flash is, except it’s extremely hard to do and also extremely powerful. Today, I will explain how exactly it happens and why it’s so powerful.

Black flash is one of the highest levels of cursed energy manipulation. It stands alongside domain expansions as the peak of jujutsu. This is because there are not a lot of sorcerers who have even been able to experience it and there are none that can use it at will.

However, how do you even use black flash? Well, for starters, you need to be extremely concentrated and you have to apply cursed energy to your physical attack within a millionth of a second. This causes a distortion in space and this distortion in space causes the cursed energy to flash black, which is how it got its name.

However, even though it is extremely hard to do, there are many benefits to using black flash. One of them is that after a sorcerer experiences it, their control and understanding of cursed energy is immeasurably higher than those who haven’t experienced it. It’s so great that after Yuji uses it only once, he is surprised at how much different it feels.

Not only that, but the increase of power you get from the attack is exponentially multiplied by 2.5. This is insanely powerful because even if the average human’s strongest punch is 150 psi that would mean if they land black flash if that attack the force would skyrocket to 1687500 psi.
