Making a Better World

By: Eli Chen

Jane Goodall was a researcher in history who shocked the world in the late 1950s. She was recognized because she studied chimpanzees and her discoveries were fascinating.

When Jane Goodall was young, she loved to explore and venture in nature. She admired animals.

In 1957, when Goodall was 23, she flew to Kenya to study chimpanzees. When Goodall first went to study the chimpanzees, the chimpanzees were afraid of Goodall and ran away.

The chimpanzees ran away because they thought that Goodall was armed and that she could hurt them. Goodall gave the chimpanzees treats such as bananas to gain more trust with the chimpanzees. After a year, the chimpanzees accepted Goodall. One day, unexpectedly, Goodall found a chimpanzee using blades of grass to capture ants for food. Jane Goodall also founded the Roots and Shoots to save animals.
