Making Changes at my School

By: Harvey Wu

If I were to oversee creating rules at my school, I would do three things to ensure my peers can have fun while learning. I’ll increase homework, increase lunch, recess and class times, and create a student council.

First, I would increase homework so that me and my peers could be more prepared for advanced college courses, but I would make the homework more fun and make my peers more prepared so we could learn more while having more fun. Thought this may be a good idea, I fear that some peers may not like more homework because either if they are already busy after school.

Next, I would increase time of the lunch period and recess periods and longer class times so my peers can have more time to burn off energy and then after fun comes work. I think this idea would have a flaw, and it’s that either school starts earlier or ends later, with could have a healthy impact on my peers.

Finally, I would like to create a student council so that the students can vote for their peers in elections which can demonstrate other people’s strength, and the school would run a little more smoothly with elected students with their ideas to make the school a better place. There is a problem. When voting, if a popular student runs against a student that has ideas that could impact the school more than the popular , most likely the popular one would win, so it wouldn’t be fair to the one with better ideas.

In all, I would love to oversee the rules of my school to make it a better place.
