If I were the teacher, I would extend art time, have “little teachers,” and combine math with P.E. to make learning more enjoyable for students. Here are my ideas along with their pros and cons.
Extending Art Time
I would extend art time because art helps build creativity. I might ask the students to draw what a mythical creature looks like and let them share the drawings with the class. Extending art time encourages creativity, improves hands-on skills, and it provides a relaxing and exciting break from traditional subjects. However, my idea would also take time away from other subjects, and some students may not be that interested in art. Also, art class can get messy, making it hard to clean up later.
Having “Little Teachers”
I would have students come to the front of the class to teach a topic, such as math or language arts. This will help the “little teachers” practice speech skills and make the other students more comfortable participating and joining the discussion. On the downside, it will take longer for students to cover a lesson than the teachers. Also, some students might feel shy or nervous to teach in front of the class. If students are teaching, they won’t know what to do if there is an emergency or they might act silly in front of the class instead of being instructive.
Combining Math and P.E.
I would combine math and P.E.. In this new type of class, I could ask, “What is Four times Five?” using hand gestures and teach them directions by having them throw basketballs to the black top and the Quiet Zone. Spending more time outside instead of staring at the worksheets in the classroom can help improve the vision of the students. Doing more exercise can help their bodies grow stronger. However, too much exercise will make the students tired and unable to stay focused. It’s also challenging to find teachers that are skilled at teaching both subjects. Students may be allergic to pollen, so they are not able to study outdoors. Also, students can get distracted by things outside including birds.
