We had a blast last week reviewing modifiers and how to place them correctly in sentences. We will kick off December by adding to our knowledge and working on writing concise, clear sentences. Please note: these are for MEMBERS ONLY 🙂

Writing Lab #3: Concise Sentences

Class Syllabus – Grades 6-8

Objective: Students will be able to implement best practices in order to make their writing more concise and clear.

Essential Questions:

1. What is a concise sentence?
2. How do we create concise sentences?
3. Why are concise sentences important?

Enduring Understandings:

1. A concise sentence is a sentence that has a clear subject, verb, and complement without extra details that muddle meaning.
2. Concise sentences are created by using the active voice, parallel structure, reducing wordy phrases, eliminating obvious information, and reducing prepositional phrases.
3. Concise sentences are important because they are the best and easiest way to express oneself clearly.
