From 2016 to now, more and more people are entering the MerMay challenge, where they draw Mermaids in May.

The challenge is called MerMay because people like puns. The challenge is to let people draw a MerMay and then post it online with the hashtag #MerMay.

The one who started the challenge was Tom Bancroft, a former Disney animator. He drew two lounging mermaids looking at their shell phones, which went rival.
