Famous people like Ariana Grande and Billie Elish have been in Fortnite before, but now there will be new songs to enjoy in Fortnite’s Season 4. These songs are by a band famous in the 1980s, Metallica. Not only will they be headlining a virtual concert, but you will be able to go head-to-head with them on the Battle Stage, too.

Metallica is an American heavy metal band that grew famous in the 1980s. “Enter Sandman,” “Master of Puppets,” and “Until it Sleeps” are some of their biggest hits. The lead singer and rhythm guitarist is James Hetfield, and the lead guitarist is Kirk Hammet. The other band members include drummer Lars Ulrich and Bassist Robert Trujillo. They are credited with creating a genre of music called speed metal, where you play traditional heavy metal music but with the fastest possible speed.

Heavy metal developed from traditional rock music in the 1960s to the 1970s. When you hear music with intense rhythms and complicated guitar solos, you know you’re listening to heavy metal. Heavy metal can also have distorted guitar sounds. Other famous heavy metal bands include Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, and Zeppelin.

Whether it’s games or apps like TikTok, we see artists from years ago popping back up. Mark Savage, a BBC music correspondent told Newsround that, “The same people who made Roblox or Fortnite might be the same age as your parents.” Some songs resurface on social media, like Instagram. On TikTok, it doesn’t matter when the song was written. If it’s catchy, it starts trending. The writers can’t control it.
