This weekend, a lot of families went crazy at the movie theater. Why? Because of the movie “Minions: The Rise of Gru.” The families that got there were excited. That movie was estimated to bring $108.5 million for ticket sales altogether! There were 4,391 screens around the world and all of them were putting on the same movie! That was how many people attended the movie! And by the end of Fourth of July, there was an estimate to be about $127.9 million for the ticket sales!

This film was the biggest hit on the weekend for the Fourth of July. It also beat a record previously held by the movie, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” that made about $115.9 million by the first four days. The movie, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” came out in 2011. “Minions : the Rise of Gru” is even playing in around 61 markets! The worldwide gross would be $202.2 million by the end of Sunday!

“It’s a tremendous debut,” Jim Orr said. “It’s playing very broadly across North America. Every single market doing extraordinarily well.”

The movie, “Minions: The Rise of Gru” was the latest success. It also includes “Sing 2” in it. “Sing 2” grossed over $243 million! That is a lot. “Minions 2” was like a magnet to people of all ages. Even tons of children went there. In fact, kids under age 10 made up 12 percent of the people there!

The movie was not able to get played in the last 2 years because of the pandemic. Look for the movie and look at the movie for some fun!
