Recently, a man in disguise threw a piece of cake at the Mona Lisa. The painting was not harmed, thanks to the glass.
Over the past few years, the Mona Lisa, painted by Leonardo Da Vinci and kept at the Louvre, has had a lot to overcome. Back in 1956, someone threw acid at the lower part of the painting. Mona Lisa was luckily protected by bullet-proof glass. Later that year, a Bolivian threw a stone at it and damaged the painting slightly.
In 1974, when the painting was on tour in Tokyo, someone sprayed red paint on the glass. In 2009, the painting was attacked again when someone threw hot coffee at it, shattering the mug. Thankfully, the painting was not damaged in either attack.
