There is a monster inside me
Sometimes it is calm like the sea
Sometimes the waves are rough and brutal
I do all I can to steer my ship
Trying to smooth out rough waves
Keeping the passengers comfortable
It could take a minute, or a day, or a week to calm down
I’ll do whatever it takes to keep it to myself
Only allowing the monster to attack me
I’m not the only one with a monster
If you look closely, you’ll find it hidden away
In the depths of the ocean
And when it comes out
The battle begins
But if the monster wins
There are many consequences
Emotions, relationships and even lives can be spared
Controlling your monster is a skill
If we could all take some time
To control our monsters
Then the world would be much better
