On June 14th, 2024, Inside Out 2 was finally released. The original Inside Out was released on June 19th, 2015, which means that it took them, the creators, nine years to film a second movie!
What I think worked well was how they made a Disney Pixar for the kids heading toward puberty. As kids, we wouldn’t even know what puberty meant. However, this movie also made the older kids that already went through puberty feel more comfortable. Inside Out 2 also shows how when puberty hits, new emotions can get mixed up with old emotions, which can cause problems.
This movie was all about how when Riley’s puberty hit, there were new emotions that thought they could live without the old emotions, but they were incredibly wrong. Though Joy, Disgust, Anger, Fear, and Sadness were kicked out of memories they built, they didn’t give up and successfully fought back. That shows how despite mood swings and other challenges during puberty, girls can still try their best to control them.
What also I thought was cool was how puberty hit in the middle of the night. I think it was creative for the creators to have a siren go off, waking up the old emotions. I also liked how Embarrassment knew what damage Anxiety was causing, so he helped Sadness, that was sweet of him. I love how Anxiety at first was excited to meet the old emotions but after a little bit, she just used the machine, joy used to throw away bad memories, to throw the old emotions to the back of the mind.
To be honest, this movie is worth watching. It has some cool and relatable situations. Out of a total of ten, I would give this movie an 8.5/10.
