New Nigerian Artwork Could Set A World Record

An artist from Nigeria will soon set a world record for the largest painting with his latest work of art. The artist in question is Fola David, who is also a doctor. The painting is so large that David used a multi-purpose stadium in Lagos. The painting is set to be 1,050 square meters, and will be called “Unity in Diversity”.

The painting shows 2 giant hands holding the Nigerian map. The message behind this work of art is that ”Our diversity should be seen as something that unites us, as something that strengthens us, rather than something that should create that divide between us,” Fola said after finishing the work on Sunday night.

David wanted to convey this message because Nigeria is made up of about 250 ethnic groups that are split between Muslims and Christians, with ethnic frictions common. So the artist wanted his work to showcase that instead of letting diversity divide Nigeria, it should unite the country.

This feat has garnered a lot of attention for obvious reasons and people are singing his praises. One fan of the artist’s work said, ”Huge congratulations to Dr Fola David on this incredible achievement! Your talent and dedication are truly inspiring”.

Now all David has to do is wait for Guinness to determine if his painting broke the world record, with the previous record breaker measuring 629.98 square meters.
