On July, 23, 2024, in the stadium in the city of Lagos, the largest artwork the world has ever seen was finished and set the Guinness world record of the largest painting ever made by one person. This artwork was created by visual artist and doctor, Fola David in one whole week.
This artwork Fola David created was an artwork about two massive hands holding up the Nigerian map. Nigeria is Africa’s most populated nations and it has 250 different ethnic groups in total. This artwork also indicates the celebrations of the many cultural heritages of Nigeria.
Fola David broke the world record last held by Indian artist Ravi Soni, which was set in 2021 with an artwork the size of a massive 629.98 square meters. Fola David broke the record with an artwork the size of a whopping 1,050 square meters big.
Fola David is a 30 year old born on the 5th of September, 1993 in Lagos, Nigeria. He has earned a medical degree at College of Medicine, University of Lagos. He is a talented medical doctor and an inspiring visual artist.
“Our diversity should be seen as something that unites us, as something that strengthens us, rather than something that should create that divide between us,” says Fola David after finishing his work on Sunday night.
