At our lab, we took a look at a comprehension strategy to help us understand the stories from the Trail of Tears. Reread the passage. Then, consider the following:
- Research the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Write a short informative piece which discusses the main tenets of the document as well as the main impacts on Native American people.
- Discuss what the acceptance of diversity means to you. Why is it so important that we honor the different cultures in our world and include everyone?
- Choose a short story, which was written by a Native American who went through the Trail of Tears. Read it, and then, using the IVTB strategy, write a short paragraph, which summarizes the main lessons or themes of the story.
