Recently in Wimbledon, England, Novak Djokovic won his seventh Wimbledon title, which is also his fourth Wimbledon in a row. This came after a choppy year for Djokovic. Oddly enough, this might be his last major tournament of the year as he will not be able to be in the US Open due to not being vaccinated for Covid-19. At the Australian Open a few months prior, he was deported right as the tournament began. After that, he succeeded in the clay tournament at Rome and started to do well in the French Open before being shut down by Nadal.
Djokovic won the final Wimbledon game by doing what he usually does: staying cool and solving his opponent. He picked up on Kyrgios’s powerful serve and learned to play around it. Kyrgios won the first serve, totally breaking Djokovic’s serving game as Djokovic managed to only win 2 points off his serve and even double fault to lose the game. Djokovic loses the first set 6-4. In the second set, however, Kyrgios suddenly becomes mad at a group of people, specifically royal people. He continues gesturing at the game and getting angry throughout the set. He pays for that and loses the set to Djokovic 2-6 who stayed cool the whole time despite a bad first set. In the third set, Kyrgios continued to get angry and was even warned to stop or he would be penalized. Djokovic also started to lose his cool, but in the end won the set 6-4. Finally, in the fourth set, Djokovic beat Kyrgios 6-5 through a tense tiebreaker.
