Oct. 17, 2022: A Day to Remember Family (Gr. 3-5)

In “A Day to Remember Family,” we read about “Day of the Dead,” which is largely observed in Mexico to celebrate and remember the lives of those who have passed. After you re-read, consider the following:

  • Write an article about one of your favorite holidays. What do you do to prepare? What does your family eat? What activities do you do? Why is this holiday important to you?
  • Research the history of the “Day of the Dead.” An article that can help you is: Day of the Dead – Kids | Britannica Kids | Homework Help. Then, write a short informative article highlighting what you have learned.
  • After reading, consider why it might be important for kids to learn about cultures, places, and people they are unfamiliar with. Write a short reflection on how learning about new things can make you a better person.
  • Write a short summary, which captures the main points of the article.
