In “The Gulls of Salt Lake” we learned about pioneers who migrated from an unsafe home to a new place. After you re-read, consider the following:

• Write an article about a time where you had to do something very challenging and use determination to overcome it.
• Research more about pioneers. A great website to check out more information is HERE. Then, write a short informative article highlighting what you have learned.
• After reading, pick a character. Write in their perspective. How do you think they felt during this experience? Include dialogue and specific details.
• Think about the story, explain how the pioneers’ determination led to success. Use examples from the passage to support your response.
