Oct. 6, 2022: The Lessons of a Fox and a Horse (Gr. 6-8)

In “The Fox and the Horse,” we read a fable about a horse who asks for a fox’s help to win over his master’s favor. After you re-read, consider the following:

  • Write an article about a time when you had to prove yourself worthy or capable of a challenge. What did you have to do in order to convince that person that you were reliable?
  • Research more about the Brothers Grimm and the influence of their fairy tales and fables on European culture. A great website to check out more information is HERE. Then, write a short informative article highlighting what you have learned.
  • After reading, write the story from the lion’s perspective. How do you think this character felt during this experience? How does the main lesson or theme of the story change? Include dialogue and specific details that reference the text.
  • What moral or lesson do we learn from “The Fox and the Horse”? Support your answer with specific examples from the text and detailed analysis.
