Oprah Winfrey’s Story

By Lauren Yue

When Oprah Winfrey was a kid, she moved many times.

When she was still studying in high school, she got a job reading the news for a local radio station. She grew up to become one of the world’s famous talk show hosts today.

Winfrey’s story has been an inspiration for a lot of people in the country and around the world.

Winfrey’s story was recently read on the latest season  on a podcast called Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls by one of her best friends with Gayle King. King is a broadcast journalist and has known Oprah Winfrey for many years. King said to TIME for KIDS, “I marvel at her accomplishments.”

King wishes for every child to be inspired by these stories. One of King’s quotes is important. She says, “You have to be fearless. You have to know that you will make mistakes, and that’s okay, and they do not define you.”
