The next crypto craze might be about orbs that stare into your eyeballs. Let’s dig into what it’s all about.
An event was held for Worldcoin, a crypto and technology company. It has been described as a launch party. They claim that every Worldcoin orb contains a camera to record images in our iris. They then convert the scans into codes, which supposedly serve as a brand new ID for humans.
Some believe that this is very risky—giving them sensitive personal information, especially when the topic gets involved with crypto. Crypto is a very unstable kind of currency and might breakdown at any time. This might limit our freedom and make lots of us uneasy.
One might ask, “What if the scan goes wrong?” For example, could the scan pose a physical threat to our wellbeing? No one knows; the company has not given us any warnings or precautions.
Though a lot of people also say, such as Lawrence Yan, a 25-year-old who works in the crypto industry, that “Privacy doesn’t even exist anymore.” He was willing to get his irises scanned “for the memes,” he expressed.
A lot of people’s irises are already being scanned, even though they think it is terribly risky. Mr. Cespedes says, “A friend of mine is a crypto trader – he thinks it is a scam.” But after a brief hour, he was already one of the many who were lining up to scan their eyeballs.
