Fabien Cousteau, son of Jacques Cousteau, has big plans for 2023. Following in the footsteps of his father, who invented the Aqua-Lung, an early version of the scuba breathing gear, Fabien explores the sea as a scientist and works to protect the ocean. Even though oceans take up a large part of planet earth, they aren’t explored much and there are probably many things about them or many species that we haven’t discovered out there in the oceans. Cousteau plans to have something like a space station for the oceans. This will help exploring the oceans be a lot easier.
Humans need air to survive in space, which means they can’t be outside for too long. But, our international space center gives them lots of shelter, causing exploration to be a lot easier. Similarly, Proteus, a project of Cousteau’s, will be an undersea research center. Right now Proteus is designed to house 12 people at a time but in case it is successful, it is designed to expand and might one day turn into something like Atlantis.
