I woke up in the morning, bright and early
And was greeted with a Neptune blue
I picked out a shirt that was charcoal gray
And a sweater the color of frozen dew
I went to school with my ocean-blue backpack
Inside my father’s robin’s egg car
And walked across the dark gray track
Toward my first school seminar
Methodically, I marched
To the ring of school bells
And never even noticed
The shadow of the cloud’s spell
At the last ring of the bell
I looked up at the sky
I felt the rain fall
And the harsh wind fly by
I never saw that pretty blue
Again that winter day
And when it appears anew
I forever pray for it to stay
