The Wimbledon Championships, held in All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, London, United Kingdom, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world. It is regarded by many as the most prestigious out of the four major tennis tournaments (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open), or Grand Slams; It is the only one still played on real grass—the traditional tennis playing surface—as opposed to […]requiring graceful and well planned shots. Players also need experience and adaptation to this court. It is also the only Grand Slam with a curfew at 11 pm considering that the London Underground closes around midnight on weekdays.

In this tournament, the current women’s world No 1, Iga Swiatek, lost in the third round to Yulia Putintsev who played as much as possible on grass courts to achieve good form. The women’s world number two, Coco Gauff, lost in the fourth round to Emma Navarro. “We had a game plan going on, and I felt that it wasn’t working. I don’t always ask for advice from the box, but today was one of those rare moments where I felt I didn’t have solutions,” said Gauff. World’s number three No.3 seed Aryna Sabalenka withdrew from the tournament before it started due to a shoulder injury. She also didn’t feel 100% ready.

The current men’s world No 1, Jannik Sinner, who wasn’t feeling good, lost a very close match in the quarter-finals to Daniil Medvedev, world No 5. In the middle of the match, Sinner left for ten minutes due to dizziness. After the break, he started playing better.

As of July 10, 2024, it is day 10 of the tournament, which is the second day of quarter-finals. On the men’s side, Alex de Minaur (No. 9) and Novak Djokovic (No.2) were supposed to face off in the draw, but de Minaur withdrew due to hip injury. Lorenzo Musetti (No. 25) and Taylor Fritz (No. 13) are also facing off today. On the women’s side, Elena Rybakina (No. 4) won against Elina Svitolina (No. 21) and Barbora Krejčíková (No. 31) won against Jeļena Ostapenko (No. 13.)
