The Hollywood costume and prop from movies auction sold more than 14,000 movie props and costumes. One of these dresses that didn’t sell, however, is Star Wars character Princess Leia’s ceremonial dress. This gown was expected to sell for more than $2 million. Instead, the dress went unsold because all bids failed to meet the seller’s minimum price of $1 million. The highest bid received was for $975,000. Propstore, the company behind the auction, is still actively accepting post-auction offers on the dress.
Though Princess Leia’s dress went unsold, some movie props and costumes from other productions DID get sold. A glove from the movie “Field of Dreams” sold for $87,500. A costume worn by Russel Crowe sold for $125K. Harry Potter’s distressed uniform from “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” sold for $100,000 despite being caked in mud and having stage blood all over it.
In conclusion, I talked about Princess Leia’s ceremonial dress, a glove from the movie “Field of Dreams”, and last but not least Harry Potter’s school uniform from “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”. Do you wonder why people buy props or costumes from movies?
